Welcome to Texas Association for the Improvement of Reading website!

For 65 years, TAIR has been serving Texas children, youth, and teachers by supporting a network of professional conferences focusing on the teaching of reading, writing, and the language arts. The original goal was to offer a reading conference within reach of every teacher in the state. We have long since achieved that goal and proudly work with other literacy education organizations to enrich learning opportunities for Texas teachers.

Each conference is a partnership between a university and one or more public schools. Because Texas is so diverse, each conference is a unique professional development experience, but all offer top-notch learning experiences for educators, for aspiring teachers, and for interested community members.

Please join our network of committed literacy educators in our ongoing work to provide excellent literacy instruction to all Texas students. We urge you to find a conference close to you!

Leslie Patterson
State President of TAIR
